'People are fearful' - why 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the squad everyone fears.

It's clear why Arsenal have become countless pundits' favorites to claim the Premier League in the current campaign.

Examine their outcomes against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those identical matches last season.

The Gunners have beaten all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they fell away in the title race previously.

Impenetrable Rearguard

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are seeming ready to ultimately achieve their title goal.

They stand first for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), shots faced (72), dangerous chances allowed (19) and expected goals against (5.3).

The central defensive pairing of Gabriel and William Saliba is arguably the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Mastery

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but opposition teams still struggle to neutralize the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can perform multiple roles now. The whole team has a daunting aura. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Title Claims

What is especially remarkable about Arsenal's start to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still leading by four at the top.

While they maintain victories, their long-standing opponents are struggling. This marks the premier instance at this stage of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on boss Mikel Arteta at the beginning, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in search of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in remarkable manner, with his side one of the most prolific attacks in the league and having the most resilient defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three straight Premier League games
  • Nearly 6.5 hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and resolve.
